What does the term "Neocon Globalist" really mean, exactly?

Most people have heard such phrases used as slang referring to certain politicians, and a search of the internet for the meaning of the terms results in widely varying and contrasting definitions.

One of the biggest causes of confusion surrounding the meaning of the phrase "neocon globalist" is the fact that the political realities of what it defines are only partially understood by most people, and terms which the words are often associated with do not actually have the meanings that many people assume them to have.

For example, many people assume "Neoconservatism" to be associated exclusively with social conservatism and "Neoliberalism" to be associated exclusively with social liberalism, however the true meanings of those terms can be different and in fact can even be the opposite of what many people assume them to be.


What is "Neoconservatism" and "Neoliberalism", and how are those words related to the phrase "Neocon Globalist"?


A great deal of confusion exists concerning the terms "Neoconservatism" and "Neoliberalism," as the terms do not necessarily mean what they tend to imply, and the practical applications of the philosophies of each are not mutually exclusive and are often implemented in combination.

"Neoconservatism" and "Neoliberalism" refer to philosophies of big picture international relations and expansion, and are not necessarily related to the commonly known social philosophies of "conservatism" and "liberalism." For example, many social conservatives subscribe wholeheartedly to the philosophies of "Neoliberalism," and many politicians subscribe to a combination of "Neoconservatism" and "Neoliberalism" which draws heavily from each, often making distinctions between the philosophies difficult or even moot.

Generally, "Neoconservatism" involves a military interventionist approach to relations with other countries, and "Neoliberalism" involves long-term strategies of exploitation and consolidation of nations through imposing multinational corporate structures and breaking down the sovereignties of governments.

Technically speaking, those who are known for affiliations with Neoconservative views are known as "Neocons," and those affiliated with Neoliberal views are known as "Globalists." However, the reality shows that most "Neocons" and "Globalists" are actually "Neocon Globalists," who share a similar hybrid of the two views, with most trying to conceal their affiliations with the opposite view of what they are generally known for.

"Over the decade of the 1980s, the top 10 percent of American families increased their average family income by 16 percent, the top 5 percent increased theirs by 23 percent, but the extremely lucky top 1 percent of American families could thank Reagan for a 50 percent increase. Their revenues went from an affluent $270.000 to a heady $405.000. As for poorer Americans, the bottom 80 percent all lost something; true to the rule, the lower they were on the scale, the more they lost. The bottom 10 percent of Americans reached the nadir: according to Phillip's figures, they lost 15% of their already meagre incomes: from an already rock-bottom average of $4.113 annually, they dropped to an inhuman $3.504. In 1977, the top 1 percent of American families had average incomes 65 times as great as those of the bottom 10 percent. A decade later, the top 1 percent was 115 times as well off as the bottom decile."

NAFTA also increased the US trade deficit with Mexico by 12 times it's pre-NAFTA size.

Bush's administration, along with the Progressive Conservative Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, spearheaded the negotiations of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which would eliminate the majority of tariffs on products traded among the United States, Canada, and Mexico, to encourage trade amongst the countries. The treaty has since been defended as well as criticized further. The American economy has grown 54% since the adoption of NAFTA in 1993, with 25 million new jobs created; this was seen by some as evidence of NAFTA being beneficial to the US. With talk in early 2008 regarding a possible American withdrawal from the treaty, Carlos M. Gutierrez, current United States Secretary of Commerce, writes, "Quitting NAFTA would send economic shock waves throughout the world, and the damage would start here at home." But John J. Sweeney of The Boston Globe argues that "the US trade deficit with Canada and Mexico ballooned to 12 times its pre-NAFTA size, reaching $111 billion in 2004."

The Clinton Administration enacted The Financial Services Modernization Act (FSMA) in 1999 to repeal the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 which was put in place to curb the amount of corruption such as insider trading which resulted in the 1929 Wall Street Crash. The FSMA essentially "broke the back of the New Deal," by transferring control of the United States financial services industry to a few financial conglomerates, creating a massive concentration of financial power. The FSMA is one of the main causes of the 2008 financial meltdown.

Bill Clinton also implemented much legislation helping to pave the way toward dissolving national sovereignty and establishing global government. Clinton successfully pushed the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) through Congress in 1993, which laid the architecture for a new international system of trade and corporatism which was poorly understood my many who had voted for it. A year after the formation of NAFTA, Clinton pulled the United States into the World Trade Organization (WTO), which established global policies which NAFTA was meant to implement. The long-range goal of these agreements is to break down national sovereignties, increase global corporate influence, and empower global governmental bodies over individual national governments.
