The Documentary “Behind the Big News” examines issues of corruption in the mainstream media of the United States, explaining how the powerful and secretive Establishment group The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has had a tremendous influence in biasing news that all mainstream media outlets disseminate.  Conflicts of interest exist due to the fact the most major figures in the media are members of the CFR, which is also the most influential organization in formulating the foreign policy of the United States.  The CFR has agendas of perpetuating globalist agendas which are often deceptive and little understood by the general public, and it often makes use of its control over the media in order to generate uncritical support for such agendas.

Behind the Big News: Clip 1 of 3, An Introduction to Biases of the Mainstream News Media
Running Time: 10 minutes

This video segment from the documentary “Behind the Big News” shows examples of the mainstream news media disseminating inaccurate information, such as a “Dateline NBC” news segment showing intentionally fraudulent information about the safety of a line of pickup trucks, issues concerning the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing being covered up by the media, issues with the U.S. getting involved in a military conflict in the Balkans based on fraudulent media reports, and issues concerning individuals in the media increasingly socializing with the politicians they cover.

Following is a written description of the information in the clip:

An excerpt from a segment of the television show “Dateline NBC” which was taped in 1992 entitled “Waiting to Explode” is shown which claims that a line of trucks produced by General Motors explode if impacted from the side.  A test scenario was set up where a car was crashed into the side of one of the trucks, which did make the truck explode.  However, one of the firefighters at the scene of the taping found that the gas tank in the truck was overfilled with gasoline, the wrong type of gas cap was used, and an incendiary device was even installed under the truck in order to ensure that it exploded.  After a full investigation into the matter, NBC had to air an apology and explain that they had rigged the accident scene.

After the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, information had been revealed showing that the U.S. Government had prior knowledge of the attack.  One source of information was Carrol Howe, who was a government informant that revealed Federal agencies had prior knowledge of the terrorist plot, and it is also shown that the investigators were ignoring several individuals linked to the bombing.  Roger Charles is a correspondent at ABC News whose news team interviewed Howe and obtained confirmation of her testimony.  He explains that the story was ready to air on ABC Evening news, but was then cancelled at the last minute without explanation.

In 1990, a conflict in the Balkans erupted into a civil war in what was a complicated situation with a long history, and major United States news outlets presented the situation as straightforward with the Serbs being cast as villains.  Ben Works, who is a military affairs analyst, explains that a now-famous photo shoot was set up by a British film crew using emergency shelters set up by the Serbs which made the refugees falsely appear as if they were being held captive and suffering in barbed wire fenced concentration camps, when in fact the refugees were standing outside the fences and free to come and go as they pleased.  Also a man with a pre-existing health condition was presented as being indicative of the people being malnurished.  The photos helped to motivate United States’ involvement into the military conflict, and Roy Gutman, one of the reporters responsible for creating the pictures, won a Pulitzer prize for it.

Footage from a White House Correspondent’s Dinner media event is shown, and it is explained that a “star system” has crept in where a wall which used to exist between members of the media and politicians has blurred and dissipated, with many people in the media now having personal friendships and socializing with the people who they cover.  It is explained that today’s standards in news reporting often has more to do with career enhancement of those in the media than reporting the truth, and when journalists try to “move up the pyramid,” they find that the media outlets are not interested in reporting news that “rocks the boat”— with “the boat” being the Establishment interests at the top that control the media.

Behind the Big News: Clip 2 of 3, How the CFR Controls the American Media
Running Time: 25 minutes

This video segment from the documentary “Behind the Big News” describes how the powerful political organization the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) controls and distorts information put out by mainstream news sources in order to protect wide ranging Establishment interests and objectives.  Issues explained include the CFR being founded in 1921 by J.P. Morgan, the fact that most major individuals in the news media are members of the organization, and the CFR’s many deceptive globalist objectives.

Following is a written description of the information in the clip:

In 1917, Congressman Oscar Callaway entered a statement into the U.S. Congressional Record, revealing that J.P. Morgan hired twelve high ranking news managers who were asked to determine which were the most influential newspapers in America in order to decide how many newspapers it would take “to control generally the policy of the daily press of the United States.”  They found that it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the major papers, which Morgan did and placed an editor at each ensure that all published information was “keeping with the new policy.”  Soon, that policy would be defined by a “front group” formed by Morgan and his colleagues, called the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

Today the CFR states its goal as being “to increase the understanding of the world,” however the actual objectives of this exclusive organization are revealed by the insiders themselves, such as in writings by CFR insider and Georgetown University Professor Carroll Quigley, who stated that the CFR aims to “create a world system of financial control, in private hands, able to dominate the political system of each country, and the economy of the world as a whole”— in short, they seek total and quiet control of the entire world.

CFR members include America’s wealthiest people as well as the highly placed elite in government, academic institutions, tax-exempt foundations, and the Establishment media.  News reporters who are CFR members do not only analyze and interpret foreign policy for the United States, they also help make it.  Members of the media who are CFR members include NBC’s Tom Brokaw, CBS’s Dan Rather, ABC’s Barbara Walters, PBS’s Jim Lehrer, William F. Buckley of the National Review, and the media mogul Rupert Murdoch.  Powerful corporations and their CEOs are also members, with the CFR presiding over major consolidations of media companies including Disney, AOL, and Time Warner.

One of the CFR’s strongest Allies is the New York Times, which is a major outlet for the viewpoints of the Establishment, and it sets trends that other newspapers then follow.

In the early 1930’s, Americans received much of their news about life in the Soviet Union by Walter Duranty, who was the New York Times’ “Man in Moscow.”  During that period, Joseph Stalin was consolidating power over the regions of the Soviet Union, and he forced the relocation of millions of Ukrainians to the most barren regions of Sibera with more than a million dying, which the British journalist Malcolm Muggeridge accurately reported happening but was dismissed by Duranty as “bunk,” and “sheer absurdity.”  Between 1932 and 1933, more than 7 million Ukrainians perished when Stalin seized their entire grain crop for export, but Duranty only reported, “There is no actual starvation or deaths from starvation, but there is widespread mortality from diseases due to malnutrition.”  Ultimately the New York Times coverup of Stalin’s crimes helped the Communist Regime gain diplomatic recognition by the United States, and Duranty received the Pultizer Prize for his coverage.

Herbert Matthews is another Pulitzer Prize winning correspondent who has also covered up the truth about the Establishment perpetuating Communism; such is in the late 1930s when Communists in Spain brutally massacred more than six thousand priests, friars, and nuns, he reported the Communists as being “idealistic democrats seeking to liberate Spain from tyranny” without mentioning the Communist atrocities.  Later, when the Times dispatched Matthews to report about Cuba, he painted a romantic and idealistic picture of the obscure revolutionary Fidel Castro, saying he was definitely not a Communist.  It is often said that “Castro got his job through the New York Times.”  After Castro took power, he killed many of the people who were his “internal opposition” through firing squads that operated day and night.  Incredibly, Matthew’s reaction to hearing about Castro’s actions was “Youth must sow its wild oats.”  Despite his blatantly pro-Communist stance, the Times kept Matthews on staff for over 45 years.

The Establishment media’s support of journalists such as Matthews and Duranty points to a larger globalist agenda of legitimizing Communism.

William F. Jasper explains issues with Communism, saying that every Communist country was an “economic basket case” which could not produce enough to survive, so every Communist state including Russia had been dependent on aid from Capitalist producing states.  He also mentions that Communism is actually the greatest concentration of government, being rule by an Oligarchic elite few, which is what Council on Foreign Relations insiders have been pushing to spread throughout the world during the past century.

In 1968 during the Vietnam war, the North Vietnamese launched what was called the “TET Offensive,” where attacks were coordinated in the cities of South Vietnam.  The attacks had been effectively pushed back by the American forces, however the media including Walter Cronkite reported the attacks as being proof that America could not win in Vietnam.  After the war, even Truong Nhu Tang, who was the Vietcong Former Minister of Justice gave an interview confirming that the American media completely misreported what had happened during the Tet Offensive in order to make it appear as an American defeat.

During the Monika Lewinsky scandal that occurred during the Clinton Administration, a “vast right wing conspiracy” was blamed for Clinton’s problems, although most of the public knows only a very small amount of the actual corruption associated with the Clintons.  The Lewinsky issue was really just an excuse to impeach Clinton for a variety of other much more serious offenses that the public mostly is not aware of, such as “Chinagate,” in which the Chinese government gave the Democratic party and Clinton campaign millions of dollars in exchange for a tremendous amount of high tech weapons systems, economic concessions, and privileged access to top U.S. officials, which carries impeachable charges of bribery and treason.  The media continually focused almost exclusively on the fact that Clinton lied about sex rather than many other serious issues, such as more than a dozen of Clinton’s appointees, business associates, and close friends being convicted of felonies since he assumed office in 1993.

Carroll Quigley, who was one of Bill Clinton’s mentors, wrote “The two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shift in policy.”

When Jimmy Carter was running for President, he was given preferential treatment by the mainstream media and he was portrayed as an “outsider” to the Establishment.  One of his favorite themes was saying if he was elected that he would bring new faces and ideas to Washington, saying “The people of this country know from bitter experience that we are not going to get these changes merely by shifting around the same group of insiders.”  After he won the election, however, he filled his Administration with many of the same members of the CFR who have been running the country for decades.  [Note: The same had happened with the Obama administration.]

President of the John Birch Society John F. McManus explains that wether it is Democrats or Republicans in office, most of the same people are running the country behind the scenes, and the globalist agendas of the administrations do not actually change.

Behind the Big News: Clip 3 of 3, Media Bias Meant to Forward Globalist Objectives
Running Time: 25 minutes

This video segment from the documentary video “Behind the Big News” shows examples of intentional distortion of news stories by the mainstream media for the purpose of forwarding Establishment Globalist objectives.  Examples are shown that explain how the media attempts to create fears of a “global crisis,” such as by exaggerating the effects of global warming; and issues are also shown concerning gun control agendas, the federalization of police forces, and the Establishment’s use of “controlled opposition” for controlling activism about key issues.  Also explained are ways that people can make a difference by pushing back against such agendas.

Following is a written description of the information in the clip:

It is explained that the news media often makes use of tactics such as giving distorted news reports that exaggerate the effects of global warming for the purpose of creating fears of a “global crisis” in order to create interest in forwarding deceptive globalist legislation that is meant to centralize government power on a planetary scale.

Issues with the media’s treatment of gun control issues is explained, showing that often it is the guns that are most blamed for crimes rather than the criminals, and it is shown that media reports lump responsible users of guns with those who use guns to commit crimes.  It is explained that it is a Constitutional right to be able to own guns, and laws that ban guns will realistically only stop law-abiding citizens from owning guns rather than criminals.

Issues with the famous incident of Rodney King being beaten by police officers in Los Angeles is shown, explaining that after riots broke out in the city when the police officers received a verdict of “not-guilty,” it was commonly reported in the media that the jurors were bigoted and racist.  However it is shown that the media intentionally kept aspects of the issue hidden from the public that only the jury was allowed to see.  Following are points raised:

— King was driving at speeds up to 115 MPH while cutting across numerous lanes of expressway traffic and running red lights.

— King was a convicted felon who was out on parole for armed robbery.

— Two other African American passengers in King’s car cooperated with officers and were handcuffed without being abused and later released.

— King was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

— When King was finally stopped, he resisted arrest and refused to get down on the ground and was tackled by four officers, and King then rose up and threw them off and was then shot by a taser which did not have much effect in subduing him.

— At this point of the conflict people started to videotape the situation, however the news media did not broadcast the first part of those tapes which showed King attacking one of the officers before they attacked him, but the jury did see that footage, so the public was under the impression that King was more of a victim than he actually was.

— The documentary states, “Although people may look at the same evidence and disagree with the verdict, the fact remains, the media withheld critical information from the American people in order to make the facts fit the story it wanted to tell.”  It is then explained that the major news media intentionally reported the story the way they did for the purpose of implying that the concept of “local” law enforcement is a failure and in need of being replaced by “federalized” law enforcement, however it is explained that the truth of the matter is that local law enforcement is accountable to their communities while federal law enforcement would instead only be accountable to corrupt political elites.

It is explained that a publicity stunt created by gun disarmament advocates for an event called the “Million Mom March” used techniques for creating the illusion in the media of having more popular support than it actually had.  In the weeks before the event, many major news reports were used to create public interest, and the public was continually told that its organizer Donna Dees-Thomases was only a “suburban housewife and political novice” who was shocked into action after watching the televised aftermath of a shooting at a day care center.  In reality, Dees-Thomases is a political veteran, who is a Congressional staffer and publicist for CBS News that is a “shrewd, well-connected player for the media elite.”  Also, despite lackluster attendance at the event, the media promoted the illusion of a “nationwide demand” for imposing more gun laws.  It is explained that as the global elite are attempting to set up a world government, they have an agenda of confiscating the guns of the citizens of the United States.

Issues with demonstrations and riots at the 1999 Seattle World Trade Organization meeting are explained.  Over 500 National Guardsman and State Police were called in to restore order in what become known as “The Battle of Seattle.”  The media focused on the chaos and the demands of the mob, but they did not focus on how the groups on the street were organized and funded, or wether their leaders had hidden agendas.  It is explained that the media portraits such demonstrations as “natural outpourings of genuine grass-roots concern,” and it is shown that the media often reports issues concerning globalism by making use of “false alternatives” in order to make sure that all sides of an issue appear to call for empowering the United Nations when actually the UN is often actually the real cause of the problems.  The media also further “stage manages” the issue by promoting individuals who are designated as the “official opposition,” such as Lori Wallach who heads “Global Trade Watch,” which receives funding from the Globalist CFR affiliated Ford Foundation.  A cover story about Wallach was published on the cover of the CFR magazine Foreign Policy, which signals to media leaders that she is the one who should be represented as the “expert” representing the “oppostion” on trade issues.

It is explained that a basic objective of the Establishment has been to break the will of the people to resist the formation of a one world government by suggesting through their propaganda that it is inevitable that such a government will be formed and the momentum toward it is so great that it cannot be stopped, however it is shown that such momentum of the Establishment has been stopped in the past.  For example, as Bill Clinton began his second term, he chose W. Anthony Lake to be his CIA director, but Senate approval would be required first.  The CFR controlled Establishment media gave many glowing endorsements of Lake despite many issues in his background raising doubts about his suitability for the post, including his long history of associating with groups hostile to American national security.  A group of political watchdogs supplied key senators with documentation and a New American magazine article helped mobilize public pressure for a thorough investigation, which made the New York Times claim that Lake was “being victimized by the far right.”  Lake then withdrew from the nomination rather than face Senate scrutiny.  It is explained that the New American magazine has been very influential in exposing corruption years and sometimes even decades before the mainstream media mentions those issues, with examples given such as the magazine’s examinations of issues concerning Osama Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein years before conflict arose with them.
