Positive Effects of CO2 - from “Global Warming or Global Governance?”
Running Time: 5 minutes

This video clip shows how elevated levels of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere are shown not to be harmful, and in fact have many beneficial properties for the growth of plant life.

Many periods in the Earth’s past history have had CO2 levels much higher than they are today, which has been shown to be corresponding with increasingly abundant plant life and also the domestication of many plant species.

Research shows that if the amount of CO2 in the air were to double, it would increase food production from 20-50% depending on the types of crops grown.

Increased CO2 in the air also means that plants require less water, where it would make regions of the world suitable for growing crops where it is currently considered marginal for doing so.

Dr. Patrick j. Michaels, Professor of Environmental Sciences, University of Virginia: “The evidence that increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is going to cause a disaster is somewhere between “slim” and “none”; however, the evidence that it is doing a good thing by lengthening the growing season and making plants grow better is somewhere between “large” and “overwhelming.”
